GIMP

Are you looking for a graphics program that has lots of features? There is a very good one that is absolutely free with lots of features you could pay hundreds of dollars for buying a commercial program. The program name is Gimp and has been around since 1996 the current version is 2.6. Gimp is an open source program that many people contribute their time and talents to develop. Gimp supports both Windows and Mac among other operating systems and is available in many languages. Gimp also supports several file formats such as JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG, PSD and many others.
Gimp is ideal for photo retouching and has features such as clone and healing tools.
There are also many plug-INS available to use and more being developed all the time.
If you’re looking for an excellent graphics program you might want to give Gimp a try.

I love gimp. Ever since I installed my first linux distro, I’ve been using it to create and retouch graphical content. However, since I bought CS2, photoshop kind of replaced it.
Even though I still use fireworks the most, for quick editing or creations. I love them in the following order:
Fireworks – Photoshop (That’s the only way to go in photo manip, imho) – GIMP.
Gimp is the one I recommend to anyone starting out, because there are no costs.

I’m not sure why, but I just could never stand GIMP. I certainly think that it’s a great and useful program, but I couldn’t use it in place of photoshop. It’s never actually felt right to me

Photoshop is also a good program as a matter of fact I have an older version I bought several years ago and still use it for some graphic things to this day.
Gimp might not be quite as user friendly as Photoshop, but has a lot of the same features as the professional version that costs something like 700 dollars for the full version.
As for me I do not use the graphics programs that often and see no need to invest that kind of money in something I just use on occasion and the price of Gimp can’t be beat.
